Please reach us at support@abilitytech.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ability Tech understands that adaptive equipment can be a major investment for families. Our ramps and devices are built to last for years, but we know the upfront cost can still be difficult.

Ability Tech is not a free equipment program, and reduced pricing is not automatic. However, we may be able to help families explore realistic funding paths such as fundraising, local sponsors, community donors, grants, school or therapy program support, foundation-assisted opportunities, or a custom quote based on what is actually needed.

Any assisted option is limited, reviewed case by case, and not guaranteed.

Our goal is to help families find a realistic way forward while keeping Ability Tech sustainable so we can continue building equipment for the next family who needs us.

If your family is ready to move forward but needs help exploring funding options, contact us and we can talk through possible next steps.

Donating to help families with special needs individuals is a meaningful way to show empathy and compassion. It provides financial relief to families facing significant expenses associated with medical care, therapy, education, and assistive devices.

By donating, individuals can help make necessary resources more accessible, ensuring that these families have the support they need. It also fosters inclusive and supportive communities, demonstrating that society values and cares for individuals with special needs.

Ultimately, donating to help these families creates a more inclusive environment and enhances the well-being and quality of life for individuals with special needs.

Your support could help cover up to 70% of the families expense.

Support is through the Ability Tech Foundation a 501c3

Ability Tech is an adaptive technology company dedicated to designing and manufacturing personalized equipment that helps individuals with disabilities become more independent, active, and included in everyday life. Our mission is simple: Adapting for Change.

We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every individual has different abilities, goals, and challenges. Many of our products can be personalized or customized to better fit the individual using them. We also have a son with profound disabilities so we live the struggle right next to our customers.

We work with individuals of all ages with disabilities, families, caregivers, schools, therapy clinics, hospitals, nonprofits, adaptive sports organizations, rehabilitation centers, veterans, and government agencies.

Yes. Our products are proudly designed, manufactured, assembled, and personalized in the United States. To be exact we are located in Iowa and South Dakota.

Absolutely! Depending on the product, we offer custom colors, names, logos, graphics, sizing, and other modifications to better fit the individual.

Yes. Through our Idea-4-Product program, individuals can bring us a problem they're trying to solve. If we determine it's a good fit, we can design and build a solution. In exchange for developing the product, Ability Tech retains the intellectual property rights to the final design.

Production times vary depending on the product and customization requested. Estimated lead times are provided before your order is finalized and may change based on current demand.

Some items may be available immediately, but many of our products are built to order to ensure each customer receives exactly what they need.

If production has not started, we will do our best to accommodate changes. Once manufacturing begins, additional changes may not be possible, may result in additional costs, or may delay the delivery of your order.

Because many of our products are custom-built or personalized, returns are generally not accepted unless there is a manufacturing defect or warranty issue.

Yes. Warranty periods vary depending on the product. Warranty information is listed on each product page or provided during purchase.

Yes. We repair many Ability Tech products. We recommend contacting Ability Tech before any repairs are attempted. Unauthorized modifications or repairs may void applicable warranties.

Sometimes. Coverage depends entirely on your insurance provider and policy. We can provide invoices or documentation when applicable, but we cannot guarantee reimbursement. We do not directly bill insurance.

Yes. We frequently work with schools, therapists, hospitals, adaptive recreation programs, and other organizations to help individuals gain access to adaptive technology.

Yes. Many schools, nonprofits, and government agencies purchase using purchase orders. However, we do not ship until product is paid in full. Contact us for details.

Currently, we primarily serve customers within the United States. If you're located outside the U.S., contact us and we'll discuss available options.

Our shop is located at our personal residence. Visits are available by appointment only. This allows us to dedicate time to each customer and provide the best experience possible while respecting our family privacy.

Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and subscribe to our email updates to see new products, customer stories, and company announcements.

Because we live this life every day. Ability Tech was created after experiencing firsthand the barriers families face. Sharing our story helps others know they're not alone and reminds them that every product we create is built with real-life experience behind it.

You can support our mission by sharing our story, following us on social media, referring families or organizations, inviting us to speak, partnering with us, or making a purchase when the opportunity arises.

"Adapt for Change" is more than our slogan, it's our philosophy. We believe disabilities should never define someone's opportunities. Instead of asking people to adapt to the world, we believe technology should adapt to the individual. Every invention we create begins with one simple question: How can we make this possible for you?

Many adaptive products are mass-produced with little or no personalization. At Ability Tech, we design, build, assemble, personalize, test, and support our products right here in the United States. We focus on quality, durability, and creating equipment that meets the unique needs of the individual, not simply the lowest possible price. Our goal is to provide products that families and organizations can depend on for years to come.

You can contact us through our website, email, phone, or social media. We do our best to respond to every inquiry as quickly as possible.

We also ask for your understanding and patience. Ability Tech is a family-owned business, and we care for our son who has profound disabilities and complex medical needs. There are times when emergencies, hospital visits, or caregiving responsibilities may temporarily delay our responses.

If you haven't heard back from us after a few business days, please don't hesitate to reach out again. We would never intentionally ignore a message, and occasionally an email, phone call, or social media message may get missed. A friendly follow-up is always appreciated, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Adaptive Bowling

Please reach us at support@abilitytech.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our goal was never to build the least expensive ramp. Our goal was to build one that could serve athletes, families, schools, and organizations for years to come.

Every system is built by hand in the USA using durable materials, is fully repairable, works with multiple bowling styles and bocce ball, breaks down for transport, is compatible with our Adaptive Release, and can be customized to fit the athlete or organization.

We believe adaptive equipment should be an investment, not something that needs to be replaced every few seasons.

The Ability Tech Adaptive Bowling System is a portable, customizable bowling system designed to make bowling and bocce more accessible. It consists of our Bowling Ramp, which can be used independently, and the optional Adaptive Release, which allows athletes to release the ball using either the built-in button or a compatible adaptive switch.

The Bowling Ramp guides the ball toward the lane and can be used on its own.

The Adaptive Release is an optional powered attachment that works exclusively with Ability Tech Bowling Ramps. It helps athletes who need assistance releasing the ball by using either the built-in activation button or a compatible adaptive switch.

Our standard Bowling Ramp adjusts to accommodate:

  • 10-pin bowling
  • 9-pin bowling
  • 5-pin bowling
  • Duckpin bowling
  • Candlepin bowling
  • Bocce ball

One ramp. Multiple sports.

Yes.

Every Ability Tech Bowling Ramp is designed to work with the Adaptive Release. You can start with the ramp today and add the Adaptive Release whenever your needs change.

Yes.

The Adaptive Release is designed to fit all Ability Tech Bowling Ramps, making it a great option for schools, recreation departments, and Special Olympics programs that want to share one unit among multiple athletes.

Absolutely!

We offer hundreds of Cerakote color options, including solid colors, multi-color finishes, custom paint designs, and even black-light reactive finishes.

If you have a design in mind, we'd love to hear about it.

You can explore all color options at (https://www.cerakote.com/shop/cerakote-coating?finishes=cera_h_series) just make sure it is an H Series color.

Yes.

Depending on the product, personalization may include:

  • Athlete names
  • Team names
  • Organization names
  • Sponsor recognition
  • Logos (Adaptive Release only)
  • Custom color combinations

We'll work with you to build something that represents your athlete or organization.

Yes.

We work with schools, therapy programs, Special Olympics teams, recreation departments, bowling centers, nonprofits, and other organizations.

Bulk pricing is available on larger Bowling Ramp orders. Contact us to discuss your program and we'll help build the right package.

Yes.

We regularly work with schools, nonprofits, municipalities, and other organizations that purchase using Purchase Orders.

Yes.

We work with tax-exempt organizations throughout the year. We'll simply need the appropriate tax-exempt documentation before completing your order.

The Adaptive Release is designed to use compatible 20V DeWalt batteries.

Batteries are sold separately and can also be purchased directly from Ability Tech when ordering your system.

The Adaptive Release accepts most adaptive switches that use a standard 3.5 mm audio jack connection.

If you're unsure whether your switch is compatible, contact us and we'll gladly help.

Yes.

The Adaptive Release includes two speed settings.

This allows you to better match the release speed to the size and weight of the ball being used, from full-size bowling balls down to bocce balls.

Yes.

The Bowling Ramp is designed to break down for easier transportation and storage.

When disassembled, the standard ramp measures approximately:

  • 3 inches thick
  • 24 inches wide
  • 36 inches long

This makes it easy to transport between bowling alleys, schools, tournaments, and community events.

Yes.

The standard Ability Tech Bowling Ramp supports over 200 pounds and is built using heavy-duty steel construction. It is also covered in durable Cerakote finish.

One of the biggest advantages of our system is that it is repairable.

Rather than replacing the entire Bowling Ramp, replacement parts are available for many components.

We're here to support you long after your purchase.

Because every Bowling Ramp is built to order, production times vary depending on current demand and customization.

We'll provide an estimated build time when your order is placed and keep you updated throughout the process.

Yes.

Every Ability Tech Bowling Ramp and Adaptive Release is built by hand in the USA. (Iowa and South Dakota)

We take pride in building quality equipment one system at a time.

Every athlete and every program is different.

Some customers only need a Bowling Ramp.

Others benefit from adding the Adaptive Release, custom colors, sponsor recognition, batteries, adaptive switches, or other accessories.

If you're unsure where to start, reach out. We'll help you build the right system based on your needs, not simply sell you the most expensive option.

Yes.

One of the biggest advantages of the Ability Tech Adaptive Bowling System is that it can grow with the athlete. You can start with the Bowling Ramp alone and add the Adaptive Release later if additional support or independence is needed. Replacement parts and future accessories are also available, helping your investment continue to serve you for years to come.

Yes.

Our standard Bowling Ramp is designed to work for a wide range of athletes. Because every ramp is built to order, custom height and width options may also be available. If you have specific needs, let us know and we'll review them with you before your ramp is built.

The Bowling Ramp is designed to be assembled and disassembled without difficulty. Many customers leave it assembled if they have a dedicated space, while others break it down for transportation or storage between events. The choice is yours.

Once your order is received, we'll review any customization requests, confirm the details if needed, and begin building your system. Because every Adaptive Bowling System is built by hand, we'll keep you updated throughout the process so you always know the status of your order.

That's completely okay.

Many of our customers start by asking questions. Whether you're purchasing for one athlete, a school, a Special Olympics team, or an entire recreation program, we'll help you determine the right setup. Our goal is to build the system that best fits your needs, not simply sell you more equipment.
