Ability Tech Warranty, Protection Plan & Care Service Terms

Ability Tech Limited Warranty

Our Commitment

Every Ability Tech product is built by hand with the goal of providing years of dependable use. Adaptive equipment is an investment, and we believe customers should have confidence in that investment.


We stand behind the quality of our workmanship, materials, and product design. If something goes wrong because of how the product was built, we will make it right.


We do not build products expecting them to fail. We build them expecting them to last.


Standard Limited Warranty Coverage

Warranty coverage begins on the documented delivery date and applies to the original purchaser unless otherwise approved in writing by Ability Tech.


Bowling Ramp

30-Day Limited Warranty

The Bowling Ramp warranty covers defects in:

  • Workmanship
  • Welds
  • Structural components
  • Manufacturing defects
  • Hardware installed by Ability Tech


Adaptive Release

6-Month Limited Warranty

The Adaptive Release warranty covers defects in:

  • Motor components
  • Electronics
  • Wiring
  • Internal mechanical components
  • Manufacturing defects
  • Hardware installed by Ability Tech


Switch Hitter

6-Month Limited Warranty

The Switch Hitter warranty covers defects in:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Electrical component failures due to manufacturing defects
  • Defective 3D printed components
  • Mounting hardware installed by Ability Tech
  • Internal mechanical components
  • Labor required for approved warranty repairs
  • Functional testing before return shipment


What Is Covered

If a problem occurs during the warranty period due to defects in materials, workmanship, or manufacturing, Ability Tech will, at our discretion:

  • Repair the product
  • Replace defective parts
  • Replace the product if repair is not practical

Replacement parts may be new, updated, or refurbished, but they will meet original performance standards.


What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not cover damage or issues caused by:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic scratches, chips, dents, or finish wear
  • Damage from dropping the product
  • Improper storage
  • Improper transportation
  • Misuse
  • Neglect
  • Abuse
  • Commercial abuse beyond intended use
  • Unauthorized repairs
  • Unauthorized modifications
  • Installation of non-Ability Tech parts
  • Accidents
  • Intentional damage
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Weather damage
  • Acts of nature
  • Theft
  • Loss
  • Damage caused by another product
  • Use outside the intended purpose
  • Improper assembly by the customer
  • Failure to follow instructions
  • Damage caused by incorrect batteries, chargers, or power sources
  • Damage during shipping after delivery


Batteries

Batteries are covered only by the original battery manufacturer’s warranty. Ability Tech does not warranty battery life, battery performance, battery charging issues, or battery failure unless the issue is directly caused by a manufacturing defect in an Ability Tech-installed component.


Adaptive Switches & Third-Party Accessories

Third-party adaptive switches, buttons, chargers, batteries, or other accessories are covered only by their respective manufacturers. Ability Tech is not responsible for failures caused by third-party accessories, incorrect wiring, incompatible switches, or improper use of accessories not supplied or approved by Ability Tech.


Custom Finishes, Colors & Personalization

Cerakote finishes are extremely durable, but they are not indestructible. Scratches, impacts, abrasion, fading, chips, or cosmetic wear from normal use are not considered warranty issues. Personalized products are not eligible for return unless a manufacturing defect exists.

This includes products with:

  • Custom colors
  • Names
  • Sponsor recognition
  • Logos
  • Custom artwork
  • Custom layout requests
  • Product-specific modifications approved by Ability Tech

Because these products are built specifically for each customer, custom work cannot be returned simply due to a change of mind, preference change, color preference, or sponsor/artwork decision after production has started.


Warranty Requirements

To maintain warranty coverage:

  • Use the product only as intended.
  • Follow all operating, assembly, and safety instructions.
  • Do not modify, alter, or disassemble the equipment.
  • Contact Ability Tech before attempting any repairs.
  • All warranty repairs must be approved by Ability Tech.
  • Do not ship equipment to Ability Tech until instructed to do so.

Failure to meet these requirements may void warranty coverage.


Warranty Claim Process

If you experience an issue, contact Ability Tech and provide:

  • Name
  • Order number
  • Product type
  • Description of the issue
  • Photos or video, if possible

Many issues can be diagnosed remotely before a product needs to be shipped back. If return is required, Ability Tech will provide return instructions. Products should not be shipped until Ability Tech has approved the return.


Shipping Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for shipping products to Ability Tech for warranty evaluation unless otherwise approved in writing.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Proper packaging
  • Shipping costs to Ability Tech
  • Shipping insurance, if desired
  • Damage caused by improper return packaging

If a warranty repair is approved, Ability Tech will cover return shipping within the continental United States. If inspection determines the issue is not covered under warranty, the customer is responsible for return shipping and any approved repair costs before work begins. Ability Tech is responsible for protecting the equipment while it is in our possession.


Extended Protection Plans

Ability Tech may offer optional Extended Protection Plans at the time of original purchase. Protection Plans extend warranty coverage beyond the standard warranty period. They do not change what is covered. They extend the length of protection for defects in materials, workmanship, and manufacturing. Protection Plans do not cover abuse, accidents, cosmetic damage, water damage, unauthorized repairs, normal wear, shipping, or consumable items.


Switch Hitter Extended Protection Plans

1-Year Protection Plan

Adds 12 months of warranty coverage.
Total Coverage: 18 Months

Includes:

  • Everything covered under the Standard Limited Warranty
  • Priority technical support
  • Priority repair scheduling


2-Year Protection Plan

Adds 24 months of warranty coverage.
Total Coverage: 30 Months / 2 Years, 6 Months

Includes:

  • Everything covered under the Standard Limited Warranty
  • Priority technical support
  • Priority repair scheduling



Bowling Ramp Extended Protection Plans

1-Year Protection Plan

Adds 12 months of warranty coverage.
Total Coverage: 18 Months

Includes:

  • Everything covered under the Standard Limited Warranty
  • Priority technical support
  • Priority repair scheduling


2-Year Protection Plan

Adds 24 months of warranty coverage.

Ability Tech Care Service & Refresh Program

After your warranty expires, your equipment does not have to be forgotten in the garage like a treadmill from 2009. The Ability Tech Care Service & Refresh Program is designed to keep your equipment performing for years through inspection, maintenance, adjustment, and repair support.


Switch Hitter Care Service

Current Service Price: $250

The Switch Hitter Care Service may include:

  • Complete safety inspection
  • Electronics inspection
  • Wiring and connector inspection
  • Mount inspection
  • Inspection of moving components
  • Inspection of 3D printed parts
  • Tightening of accessible hardware
  • Cleaning of the complete system
  • Operational testing
  • Written service report

If worn or damaged parts are found during the inspection:

  • Ability Tech will contact the customer before performing repairs.
  • Customers receive 20% off replacement parts installed during the Care Service.
  • Labor for standard replacement parts is included with the Care Service.
  • Major repairs requiring extensive labor or structural replacement may require additional charges.

No work beyond the approved Care Service will be completed without customer approval.


Bowling Ramp & Adaptive Release Service / Refresh

Service may include:

  • Complete inspection
  • Cleaning
  • Adjustment
  • Hardware replacement
  • Electrical inspection, if applicable
  • Safety inspection
  • Functional testing
  • Replacement of worn components
  • Updated recommendations
  • Optional new Cerakote finish
  • Optional updated decals or personalization refresh

Customers may receive:

  • Ability Tech will contact the customer before performing repairs.
  • Customers receive 20% off replacement parts installed during the Care Service.
  • Labor for standard replacement parts is included with the Care Service.
  • Major repairs requiring extensive labor or structural replacement may require additional charges.

No work beyond the approved Care Service will be completed without customer approval.


Cerakote refinishing, new decals, new sponsor logos, major customization changes, or full cosmetic rebuilds are not included in standard warranty coverage and may require separate pricing.


Lifetime Parts Support

As long as Ability Tech manufactures replacement parts for your product, we will make every reasonable effort to help you repair your equipment instead of replacing it. Parts availability may change over time, but our goal is to keep your equipment in service for as many years as possible. We believe adaptive equipment should be maintained, repaired, and kept in use whenever possible, not treated as disposable.


Abuse, Misuse & Unsafe Modification Policy

We build our products to be used.

Not abused.

Products showing intentional abuse, unsafe alteration, unauthorized modification, misuse, or use outside their intended purpose may be denied warranty coverage.

Ability Tech reserves the right to refuse warranty coverage or paid repairs if:

  • The equipment has been significantly modified.
  • Unsafe alterations have been made.
  • The equipment has been intentionally damaged.
  • Repairs have been performed by unauthorized individuals.
  • The equipment presents a safety risk to Ability Tech employees.
  • The product has been used in a way it was not designed or approved for.


Right to Improve Products

Ability Tech continually improves its products. Replacement parts, repaired products, or updated components may differ from the original version while maintaining or improving function, safety, durability, or performance. This allows us to keep improving instead of locking customers into older designs just because “that is how it used to be.” Around here, better is better.


Turnaround Time

Repair, warranty, and Care Service turnaround times vary depending on workload, parts availability, shipping time, and repair complexity. Estimated completion times will be provided whenever possible but are not guaranteed.


Safety Notice

Ability Tech products are designed to assist individuals with disabilities in participating in recreational, athletic, and adaptive activities. Products should always be used under appropriate supervision and according to the provided instructions. Users, caregivers, coaches, schools, organizations, and support staff are responsible for ensuring the equipment is used safely and appropriately for each individual’s abilities, environment, and activity. Ability Tech is not responsible for injuries or damages resulting from misuse, improper installation, lack of supervision, unsafe setup, unauthorized modification, or use outside the intended purpose.


Limitation of Liability

Ability Tech’s responsibility under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the covered product or covered components.

Ability Tech is not responsible for:

  • Loss of use
  • Lost wages
  • Lost income
  • Travel expenses
  • Tournament fees
  • Event fees
  • Rental equipment
  • Medical expenses
  • Indirect damages
  • Incidental damages
  • Consequential damages

This limitation applies where permitted by law.


Disputes

If a disagreement arises regarding warranty coverage, repairs, service, or product condition, Ability Tech will work directly with the customer to reach a fair resolution. If an agreement cannot be reached, all disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of Iowa.


Policy Changes

Ability Tech reserves the right to update warranty, Care Service, pricing, repair, and service policies without notice. Changes will not affect warranties or Protection Plans already purchased before the effective date of the policy change.


Final Statement

We do not build products expecting them to fail.

We build them expecting them to last.

If something goes wrong because of us, we will make it right.

If something happens after years of use, we will still be here to help keep your equipment in service whenever reasonably possible.
